I started out wanting a better Othello site, because the ones I played on felt like luck and I wasn’t learning anything. Before building, I had agents compare games by how many people want to play them against how good the sites for them are. Tavla, the Turkish form of backgammon, had the widest gap, and its most common complaint was rigged dice. In 250 recent reviews of one popular Turkish app, 137 mention dice or cheating. So on TavlArena every roll is sealed before the game starts, and you can check it afterwards with an open-source verifier. You can play a bot or a friend in a few taps without signing up, every game gets an engine review, and it’s all in Turkish and English, with no ads or coins.
I planned it and directed Claude Code and Codex agents, which made 526 commits between 24 and 30 Oct 2026. That covers a Rust rules engine, real-time tables on Cloudflare and TLA+ models that found five real bugs. It went live on 27 Oct.
